"I thought I told you to get rid of that stupid thing!"
"But mum, in Zootopia anyone can be.."
"Don't you talk back on me young man!"
"I...I just want to be myself..."
Yet another Zootopia fan art featuring Finnick!

Hmmmm it's hard to say really! From an outside-the-movie perspective, feeling like a species other than their own sounds closer to transgender in that there could be discomfort in particular body parts or "predator" and "prey" stereotype behaviors to which they are expected to conform. But from an inside-the-movie perpective, "predator" and "prey" -- and really species in general -- are used to raise questions about issues that seem to fit more closely with race bias. In that case, feeling connected to a different species could parallel more to feeling connected to a different race. In any case, I'm still surprised I hadn't thought about any of this until I saw this piece!
I imagine life for Fennecs in Zootopia is one long joke at your expense until you realize you're the right size to live off of kid's meals your whole life and spend your surprisingly large gain of disposable income to commission the only FA artist in your building to do a commission on your panel van.
I imagine everything is cheaper for them.

Aw... This is both adorable and sad... I love the idea that being an elephant was Finnick's actual dream. Until his hardcore mother broke it. And I bet that he even made that costume himself. A good mother should let their child follow their dream. And Finnick's mother should have been proud.
I just hope this picture isn't a lie. xD

The whole "I wanna be an Elephant" thing in the movie was so beautifully adorable that I hate that it was only just an act, and that kid does't actually exist in that world.
... so my headcanon has been that he actually does, and Finnick just stole the whole act, and the Pajamas, off the REAL (in the Zootopia world) "Wanna Be an Elephant" Kid, whom is wandering around that city somewhere, being his or her adorable self.
... though I guess imagining that Finnick really was like that as a kid works too.
