If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- rkt (software) (currently a redirect to Container Linux) → rkt (currently a redirect instead to RKT) (move · discuss) – Unneeded disambiguating phrase, and meets WP:DIFFCAPS. My quick search shows almost always the software is lower case and the airport code upper case. Change two-entry DAB at RKT to redirect to the airport, and hatnote each to each. Repaired two red links both meaning the software. 94.21.238.64 (talk) 09:16, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- European Parliament election, 1979 (currently a redirect to 1979 European Parliament election) → 1979 European Parliament election (move · discuss) – Consistency with all the other articles on European Parliament elections and virtually all the articles on elections, after the naming issue was settled (see Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (government and legislation)/Archive 2#Proposed change to election/referendum naming format). Contested technical requests
- Arthur Cardin → Pierre-Joseph-Arthur Cardin (currently a redirect back to Arthur Cardin) (move · discuss) – as per Library of Parliament FUNgus guy (talk) 06:16, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- That's not a meaningful reason. Dicklyon (talk) 06:47, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
