    I could listen to Pat's stories about working with as well as being a dancer with Mr. B for hours! She's such a great storyteller! She definitely deserves to wind down her teaching career and has worked so hard! Thanks for everything Ms. Neary!

    Wow, what an absolute treat to watch. So many greats in one space at one time; the Dancers, Pianists, Dame Monica in the audience and of course the Queen that is Pat Neary, what an incredible woman. The interviewer did such a great job too. Thank you for this insight!

    cannot imagine a future without Marianela Nunez, always unparalleled blend of musicality, grace, loveliness, strength and ballet perfection. She truly combines the best of all the great ballet schools found around the world

    What can I say of the great Balanchine, he gave ballet a new edge that is stunning to this day
    I saw all the great dancers back in the day. Patricia was incredible. It was standing ovation every night . Such beauty at every performance. Sad to say ballet is getting away from this kind of beauty. Just lovd anything Balanchine

    I rewatched the Symphony in C PDD, and this time I noticed how many unusual touches there are in the partnering, and how perfectly Reece Clark does them.

    The talent at The Royal is truly exceptional at the moment and these recordings are a blessing to watch. There is nothing like a direct link to a choreographer to maintaining the original ideas and Miss Neary is such a Balanchine expert, who makes the rehearsals even more interesting. I wish her a long and happy retirement with her husband.

    In my opinion the Royal Ballet is the only company that dances Balanchine as well as NYCB does. How I wish he had lived to choreograph a ballet on Marianela Nuñez!

    The Balanchine Trust, to preserve the integrity of Balanchine's ballets, requires that any Balanchine ballet danced by another company be staged by a repetiteur who was a former Balanchine dancer who had danced the role for Balanchine himself. (I don't know if that would be required for ballet companies led by say, Edward Villella, who knew the male roles, including Prodigal.)

    I was lucky enough to be in the royal opera house on opening night last Friday, with Lauren, William, Mayara, Nela, Reece, and others (Cesar Corrales, Natalia Osipova, Melissa Hamilton, Ryoichi Hirano, Anna-Rose O’Sullivan, Fumi Kaneko, Vadim Muntagirov). It was incredible to see such different choreography to what I’m used to seeing from the Royal Ballet and so many principals on stage at once. They were beautiful.

    I didn't remember Prodigal Son was so very angular, so modern for 1928. She is often taller than the man, she is overpowering him.

    Not all great ballerinas took to Balanchine. Natalia Makarova, who really didn't 'get' Balanchine, and Margot Fonteyn, who took a crack at "Ballet Imperial", fell three times during performance, and hated it. Just "not her thing", American ballerina, Patricia Wilde, once said.

    • @deborahhigginbotham7276
      @deborahhigginbotham7276 2 дня назад +1

      Yvonne was of American Indian ancestry? I knew that she was born in South Africa.

    • @deborahhigginbotham7276
      @deborahhigginbotham7276 2 дня назад +1

      Instead of Mounsey, do you mean Yvonne Chouteau, one of the 5 Moons?

    • @avesraggiana
      @avesraggiana 2 дня назад

      @ deborahhigginbotham7276. Sorry. I mistakenly attributed that remark to Mounsey. It was actually Patricia Wilde who said that. In an interview, she'd recalled how she and Fonteyn would take class with Vera Volkova, and get dressed for class together. She also recalled how Fonteyn "hated" dancing Balanchine.

    • @kdub10009
      @kdub10009 2 дня назад +1

      And Balanchine didn’t like Fonteyn’s dancing that much; he said her hands were like spoons. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I just really want Nela and Vadim back together, this partnership isn't working for me.

    • @Missfrankiecat
      @Missfrankiecat 15 часов назад

      She was excellent with Will Bracewell in Romeo and Juliet. I think her regular partnership with Vadim is maybe over.

    • @VanessaBritneyTaylor
      @VanessaBritneyTaylor 12 часов назад

      @@Missfrankiecat it's most certainly not over! First because it's legendary, second because it makes the RB tons of money. It's just been unlucky that Vadim has been recovering from surgery for most of the season.

    • @VanessaBritneyTaylor
      @VanessaBritneyTaylor 12 часов назад

      @@Missfrankiecat I never said anything about her partnership with Bracewell which works just fine for me. She's not dancing with him in this video.

    • @Missfrankiecat
      @Missfrankiecat 12 часов назад

      @ let's hope you're right but he was paired with Fumi Kaneko from before his injury (Winter's Tale) and in everything since (R & J, Balanchine). I don't think that's a coincidence. I think RB may think they can double revenue by separating their most lucrative stars - Nunez (who always sells seats whoever she dances with) and a real-life couple with the 'shipping factor' of a lot of fans for Vadim/Fumi.

    • @Missfrankiecat
      @Missfrankiecat 12 часов назад

      @@VanessaBritneyTaylor I'm well aware. She's dancing with multiple partners this season.
